After so many months of a tussle between UPSC Candidates and Centre, the Centre has agreed to grant an additional attempt to the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) aspirants who had their last attempt in October 2020 prelim examination but could not appear due to the Covid19 Pandemic.

Today i.e. 05.02.2021, the Centre informed Supreme Court that they will grant one more attempt for the UPSC aspirants who missed their final attempt for the Examination in the previous attempt that was held in October last year.
Meanwhile Centre has also laid some conditions for candidates who wish to avail of this extra attempt. These conditions are as follows:
Relaxation for providing one extra attempt shall only be limited to Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2021.
The extra attempt may only be granted to students who appeared as their last attempt in CSE 2020 and are not age barred.
No extra attempt shall be allowed to those students who have not exhausted their permissible number of attempts or are age barred from appearing in CSE 2021.
This is only a one-time relaxation and should not be made a precedent.
